Fire authorities here have safeguarded 28 individuals, who were stranded close to a surge hit zone along the banks of Vishwamitri River.
Because of substantial downpours beating the city since Friday evening, the water from Ajwa supply was discharged to the waterway, which has now overwhelmed.
The surge influenced close-by towns, particularly Akota zone in Devapura town, which left 28 individuals, who were coming back from their work, stranded.
Authorities of Vadodara Municipal Corporation called blaze authorities when they got data of stranded individuals.
On Saturday, fire fighters arrived and began salvage operations and each of the 28 individuals, including kids, were safeguarded.
"The fire officials communicated with stranded people and started the rescue operations immediately. The commissioner of Municipal Corporation of Vadodara, Mayur Suri and I, reached the spot and under our monitoring, the rescue operations took place. I requested the fire officials to rescue stranded 25 to 30 people at the earliest and ensure their safety," said area officer of Vadodara , Vinod Rao.
Allegedly, the water level in stream rose from 16 feet to 17.3 feet inside two hours because of torrential downpours. (ANI)
