NEW DELHI: The passage of Germany into the final of Fifa World Cup has practically discounted the chances of a gathering between German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Prime Minister Narendra Modi who will make a travel stop in Germany on July 13 enroute to Brazil for the BRICS Summit.
Merkel is making a trip to Brazil to watch her joint effort and an affirmation to this impact was made by German President Joachim Gauck's office on Tuesday which said both he and Merkel would fly out to Brazil for the last.
With Merkel out on the day when Modi will be in Germany for his travel, a gathering is practically outlandish as Modi may not get a kick out of the chance to have reciprocal chats with anybody other than the German Chancellor.
Sunday's match will be Merkel's second at this World Cup. The Chancellor was in the stands for Germany's opening match against Portugal a month ago, which Joachim Loew's group won 4- 0.
Germany fit the bill for the finals of the glass by devastating hosts Brazil 7-1 in the semi-last.
