July 20, 2014Commodore (Retd) Ranjit B Rai and Defense Expert Uday Bhaskar said on Sunday that the Ceasefire violation by Pakistan is a matter of serious concern.
Rai told ANI, "This is a very important question. Pakistan army thinks that Pakistan is under them and not the government. They think that the flag of Islam is to be held by them. That is why countries including Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Malaysia, UAE and other Islamic countries get help from Pakistan."
"They think that if India-Pakistan friendship comes into existence then Islam will be endangered. That is the reason why this border incursion with ISI keeps taking place," he added.
Expressing his views on the overall situation of Pakistan, Rai said, "I think Pakistan army wants to rule over Afghanistan, not directly but through Taliban. But now they are aware that Taliban is not supporting them. Now it's the job of NDA government to plan strategy on it."
Defense expert Uday Bhaskar told ANI, "The recent pattern of firing on the international border is cause for concern. Not that it hasn't happened in the past; India and Pakistan have has a very bitter relationship from 1948 till now. So it's almost 66 years. But on balance, the sort of pattern is that on the Line of Control (LoC) is looked after and managed by the armies on both sides, whereas the international border is the responsibility of the paramilitary forces (BSF) on both India and Pakistan rangers."
Commenting on the recent ceasefire violations by Pakistan he said, "Yes there is firing. It has happened in past as well and at this stage the local commanders are perhaps best equipped to deal with this. We also have to see it in a larger context, which is that the Pakistan constantly raises issues like Jammu and Kashmir and the fact that the entire border is disputed. Firing has been taking place against this backdrop. So, both sides I guess will have to resolve this within a political context."
"As an analyst, I personally think that it is unlikely to happen because for the Pakistani army and the establishment there, this kind of hostility or complication with India justifies their existence. This is unfortunate and we hope that local commanders are able to deal with it in most effective manner," he added.
Reportedly, Pakistani troops today again resorted to violate ceasefire by firing on an outpost along the international border in RS Pura sector of Jammu district in India's northern Jammu and Kashmir province. The firing started at around 1:00 am in the night and lasted till morning 5:30 am.
Pakistan had targeted an Indian post in the same area on July 16 as well wherein an Indian soldier died and three others were injured. (ANI)
