After a mini-collapse in the second session thanks to James Anderson and Ben Stokes, the Indian innings was restored by a valiant effort from Ajinkya Rahane, who scored a gritty ton and made his way to the Lord's honours board and helped India finish on 290/9.
India complete Day 1 on 290/9 graciousness Ajinkya Rahane's 103. A 90-run stand with Bhuvneshwar Kumar (36) restored Indian innings after James Anderson, Ben Stokes rejected Kohli, Pujara, Dhoni and Jadeja in fast progression. The advantaged see-sawed its path over to India. The guests won the first session on a greentop wicket with resistant batting yet England bowlers enhanced their line and lengths to make serious in-streets into the India batting line-up.
Rahane appeared to be the main Indian batsman who was fit for weathering the English storm and he did that well in the last session to deny England an upper hand at the end of day. At close of play, Mohammed Shami (14) and Ishant Sharma (12) were at the fold. An intriguing day two anticipates us. Will be intriguing to perceive how the Indian bowlers perform on the green wicket.
